Using natural soap has a wealth of benefits from moisture to avoidance of chemicals to support for a more natural world.
NATURAL SOAP CONTAINS GLYCERIN
Natural soap is far different from store-bought or commercially-manufactured soap.
All soap must go through a process of chemical restructuring called “saponification”. During the process of saponification, oils or fats combine with sodium hydroxide (or lye) to create a substance that is considered a salt of a fatty acid.
A natural byproduct of this process is glycerin, a clear liquid humectant, meaning it pulls moisture from the surrounding air and draws it to itself.
Store-bought, commercially-manufactured soaps undergo a process to remove the glycerin for use in other profitable products such as lotions and e-cigarettes.
Natural soap makers allow the glycerin to remain in the soap. This creates a bar of soap that is moisturizing and nourishing to your skin’s natural oils.
NATURAL SOAP CONTAINS NO CHEMICALS
Commercially-manufactured soaps are typically considered “detergents” because of the long list of artificial ingredients used to make them.
Many of these ingredients are derived from petroleum. Many have been shown to cause skin irritation and damage to the systems of the body.
Natural soap, thus the name, contains only natural ingredients. These ingredients can come from animal fat, vegetable oil, plant extracts and ground up plant material.
Many of the natural ingredients found in natural soap have been shown to improve the skin, not harm it.
NATURAL SOAPS SUPPORT THE ENVIRONMENT
Natural soaps help protect the environment by reducing chemical use. No chemicals in the soap means no chemicals down the drain and into our water supply system.
